KREWE is an independent New Orleans based eyewear company that promotes individual style through culturally inspired frames.
I designed the site to showcase KREWE’s emphasis on individuality by presenting distinct editorial images next to corresponding frame collections to provide customers a sample of what products may look like when worn. I worked with founder Stirling Barrect to design a luxury motif for the home page to highlight the brand’s collaboration with global icons Beyoncé and Meghan Markle. To realize such motif, I created the home page with only full-width screen and half and half modules in a simple and clean style.
Home Page
The home page layout allowed the brand to easily introduce highlighted collections and product features such as holiday campaigns, new arrivals and best sellers. For the mobile version, added a visual cue on the bottom right corner of the page that customers can use to swipe the page vertically to explore further.
Global Navigation
Made a design decision to hide the brand’s logo (located on the top navigation pane) when a customer is scrolling through a collection page in order to maximize screen space. Also implemented a breadcrumb feature to allow customers to navigate the site without the need to go back up to the menu.
Collection Page
Implemented subtle grey backgrounds behind the products to invoke dimensional depth and visual stability in the layout. Also delayed the display of color pickers and wishlist icons so that such features would not appear until the customer hovered over a specific product in order to create a more intuitive shopping experience. Instead of presenting swatches below the product image, added the available number of the product options in text to achieve a more polished aesthetic. Placed a cross sell module using either the brand’s lifestyle editorial image or applicable collection to create a cohesive connection to the brand’s narrative.
